TASHKENT, June 4 – Sputnik.Uzbekistan intends to attract 11 million foreign tourists this year. Such plans were announced during a video conference chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dedicated to improving tourism infrastructure in the regions and increasing the flow of foreign guests, the presidential press service reports.

“Responsible officials, citing opportunities to attract 11 million foreign tourists this year and increase tourism exports to $2.5 billion, presented plans for work in this direction,” the statement said.

They talked about the potential of the tourism sector. As noted, every dollar invested in this sector generates 3-4x returns in the future. Each new job creates 2 more jobs in other industries.
